Series I | Figurative Abstracts
In this luminous series of abstracted figurative paintings, Marianna transforms coloured paper into vigorous terrains of gesture and texture. At the heart of the work are her collaged “skins” - fragile fragments of peeled paint, salvaged from her palettes and reimagined as living elements within the compositions.
Each painting unfolds as an interplay between chance and intention: layered skins meet sweeping, gradient brushstrokes, creating a sense of motion, depth, and playful unpredictability. Colour pulses through the work, shifting between harmony and contrast, inviting the viewer to linger and discover hidden details within each surface.
These pieces are conversations in paint - intimate, tactile, and alive. They bring a distinctive voice to any space, transforming walls into portals of colour and energy.
Please take your time exploring the selection. For inquiries, acquisitions, or thoughts about the work, Marianna warmly welcomes you to get in touch.

Series III | Portraits on Paper
This ongoing series of portraits extends from a deeply meditative studio practice in which painting becomes both a gesture of intimacy and an act of excavation. Friends, family members, and imagined figures are summoned into being through intuitive mark-making, where each brushstroke resists premeditation and instead channels the logic of the subconscious. Drawing on surrealist strategies of chance and automatism, stains, creases, and scraps on the surface are not concealed but amplified, becoming generative sites where hybrid characters emerge.
The resulting figures hover between the familiar and the phantasmatic, collapsing memory, invention, and psychological projection into a single image. In these works, portraiture is less a fixed likeness than a fluid encounter, a space where inner worlds and outer appearances converge, and where the boundaries of self and other are continually reimagined.

Marianna Magurudumian-O’Reilly’s landscapes draw their vitality from the luminous terrain of southern Catalonia, where she lives and works. Often painting en plein air, she studies the rhythms of Mediterranean flora and the shifting patterns of mountain light, allowing the environment itself to guide her hand. These encounters with place are not simply observational but deeply interpretive, attuned to the sensorial charge of the landscape as well as its hidden psychological resonances.
The Catalan vistas converge with remembered geographies - the dense winter forests of Karelia, the monumental ranges of the North Caucasus - impressions that bear the weight of her Armenian-Russian heritage. Through this interweaving of lived and inherited landscapes, Marianna inscribes her canvases with themes of identity, resilience, and ancestral survival. The mountains, forests, and coastlines she paints are less static topographies than sites of memory and transformation, vibrating between the real and the imagined.
